Love Week

Red Eye Loves Gungle Drums. Tribe of One Loves The Moon. And The Coconut Robot Loves the Ant People.

It was 'Love' week at 100 Days but with a lack of apparent love in a frog hunt we have 3 views from other parts of The Gungle.

Gungle 100 Days on flickr.

'Missed Call' (and missed rest of strip)

Come and join the Text Message Comics Flickr Group and do a comic using dialogue from your old text messages. This bearded lady was a frame in a strip of 5 but the other four have nearly done my head in this afternoon.

Forbidden Planet review NBC2

And they were pretty nice about Ragnar's Charm! Take a look

Out in town.

Just seen this cheery fella out and about, Cheers!

*Update* Saw him yesterday but here he is through the scanner.

- Posted on the move.
(Then again properly @ WJC HQ)

Sea mine/ jellyfish/ tie fighter/ diving helmet sub 2.

Here's a rapidly coloured version of the vessel from Huzzah!! and featured in a previous post, my first fully remote post, but it didn't turn out well so here's another go.

I'll be missing Disney's Atlantis on telly this afternoon as I'm off to work and this seemed an appropriate thing to post. Read into that what you will.

iPhone Text Comic

I recently got an iPhone. Obviously it's got a ton of stuff on it and an awful lot you can get for it. My favorite thing so far is the fact that it saves a history of text messages to each contact, so you can re live old text conversations. Or better still,

use the dialogue as a script for a comic.

What it was meant for.

Been busy but here's a quickie from an idea where a lad travels around having music based adventures in a musical universe transported by his 'Magic Generic Mp3 Player' (it was still mp3 when I first drew him)

Look out one day for 'Gary's Guts©', 'Watt's History Tortoise©' and 'Jamies Magic Ballbag©'

100 Days, Day 50

The Hundred Day Project continues and today is the 50 picture milestone. 50 more days so 50 more pictures to do. As previously mentioned, the drawings will go up for sale at some stage and contribute to a printing some of this stuff (I have an offer of a half table at the Thing) though interest has been a little sleepy so far.
The Hunt have their prize but there's still plenty going on.

Record and Report

Saw this couple in a pub this morning ( I WAS working!)

Sea mine/ jellyfish/ tie fighter/ diving helmet sub.

Having worked out a menacing undersea fleet for my Huzzah!! turn, I was pleased with these fella's. Though in the dynamic nature of Huzzah! These chaps may not be seen again or may turn out entirely differently to their initial idea. That is the interesting part.

I'd have 'em piloted by a neferious sailor with goggles and a gas mask.

Also, first 'remote' post. Progress eh!

- Posted on the move.

Huzzah!! Page 8

New Huzzah!! page up. And very excited that Dave Taylor's is following on to tidy up my mess.

2009/ 10 and 500

Amongst all this stuff here are some of my highlights from 2009. Which for me got my first comic pin-ups in Jersy Gods 2 and UXB and my first 3 anthology comic strip contributions completed. Angel for Pirat, still MIA, Ragnar's Charm in NBC#2 and Defender's of Albion in the imminent Birdsong/ Songbird. There was a load of other stuff going on and going into 2010 a lot of it still to do. Any unrecognisable characters up there should be revealed this year. And more hopefully.

This is also WJC post 500.

The Hunting Party

'100 Days Project' is 43 days in. And 43 panels of Gungle have us in the middle of The Hunt, and the frog's looking none too happy today. Who knows what the other Gungle residents are up to while we're following the Gungle Queens?
At last I drew a single page reference for them (with Gungle names) to try to slim down the number of wild inconsistencies and cock-ups that run through the strip so far.
The 'Make me a better person' part of the project could relate to the fact that I plan to flog all the pencilled panels to gather some cash to print this stuff, fingers crossed!

Spaceman's Coffee Break

I'm not at all certain how I ended up doing this this evening. But I did.

The Hunting Party Page 6

This one, once again suggests why it's better to plan and execute the whole page rather than drawing each panel independent of each other. Still, i'm enjoying it and that's what counts.

10 01 10

None too tidy. Just spent the last 38 hrs at work (with sleep) but did get a few things done. This today when I clocked todays date. I know some do Month/Day/Year so I put that one in too.

The Year of the Nun

Monkeyfeather's holding up his end of things better than me but The Nun is on the hunt.

Fifth Page

That frog is nearly pegged. 38 of 100 days.

The Legend Of Great Beef.

High amongst the stony tops of the world warm folk live kindly, out in the cold.

These people live well and thrive on the sparse fruits the wilderness offers. Fishing, hunting, working hard and playing happily. Enjoying good terms with friendly neighbours. Sadly, they endured one hardship that they all would be happy to forget . . .

No one thing in this world is more miserable or more worrying than the mighty giant, Great Beef.

Great Beef was a foul attitude darkening the heart of one enormous angry snowman. He would roam and bellow and crush and eat hugely all day long. He would command all other snowman, yetis and wild folk to serve that grumpy mountain, forcing them to scour and raid to fill his chilly stomach.

His belly bulged with lost souls. Innocent bystanders and brave warriors that tried and failed to budge the fat monster from their happy world. He’s scoffed the lot. Even a whale.

Though hope never dwindled and salvation was planned. The three bravest hunters remaining set out to find Great Beef and make a stand. They tracked the monstrous prey to the ground where they would finally showdown in the snow.
But not till they had they had readied themselves for the fearsome encounter.

Each hunter had carried vessels of strong liquor with them to the fray and they would not dare to engage the menace before they had drunk every last spikey drop.

With boldness in their hearts and fear in their furry wellies, the heroes advanced unevenly toward Great Beef.

The battle was not a long one.

Great Beef continued his reign of gloom over the land.

For a short while at least, the scoffed hunters slept coldly inside his belly and the booze soaked from them into the snowy interior. Great Beef puzzled and wobbled and shambled and conked out, addled by the stiff drink within.

At last, here was his downfall. As he snored, the accomplices arrived and set to work the plan at hand.

Great Beef was scooped and shovelled and boiled to make giant kettles of sweet tea.

As Great Beef's previous feasts are freed from his chilly guts they get the to toast to their miserable host. The unswallowable whale, his greatest filling, happy to turn the tables and carry Great Beef in his own belly for a time.

All folk rejoiced and long lost yeti friends and snowman companions where re-united. All folk living warmly and happily on top of the world once more.

Deep below Great Beef was set free, warmer and gentler than he ever was before.

HUZZAH!! Page 6, my first.

Having followed last years HUZZAH!! and loved it, I was very excited and honour to be asked to join in with this years continued adventure. Here's my first HUZZAH!! page, and here.

Battled pets, kids, snow and deadlines to get this in.

Who Ha

Not entirely how it happened.

Need to draw something . . .

. . . what's on telly?

30 Days of Night.

Feasting, boozing, holidaying over. Lets get the fat off these pencils.
